Speed calming measures for Ward 66
Community Liaison Officer for the Bushland Road traffic
calming project Amber Bosch and Councillor Jean-Pierre
Prinsloo inspect the newly completed speed humps in Bluff.
TO ALLEVIATE road accidents in Ward 66, five speed humps were recently constructed in the area. The traffic calming measures alongside the Bushland Road in the Bluff come after residents’ plea to promote traffic safety in the area.

Ward 66 Councillor Jean-Pierre Prinsloo said concerns were raised about the danger of Bushland Road and Marshall Avenue as they had no traffic calming measures. “Road safety is a very critical matter and as a champion of the ward it is my duty to take such concerns from residents seriously. I requested eThekwini Transport Authority (ETA) to conduct a road traffic assessment on the basis of complaints received,” he added.

Councillor Prinsloo said ETAs six-week assessment stated that both roads required speed humps because of traffic volumes. He said speed humps installation for the second road, Marshall Avenue are currently underway. “We want to implement more traffic safety measures across the ward,” he added.
