THE Municipality-backed technology hub, SmartXchange, hosted its fifth annual small, medium and micro enterprise awards at the Botanic Gardens Visitors’ complex recently. Chairman Themba Ngcobo said, “Everyone is a winner. Thank you to all the sponsors. Without you this would not have been possible.” The R30 000 prize for the SMME of the Year, sponsored by Dimension Data, went to Nitsak. Runners-up were Egsibit and Snesa Technologies.
The Best Newcomer of the Year was won by I&S Transdata, which walked away with R10 000 sponsored by AdaptIT Holdings. Runners up were Kuvira and Southern Avenue. Dimension Data was named the Most Supportive Corporate of the Year. The Leadership Award of the Year went to Lungile Shandu of Egsibit, who won R10 000. The runners-up were Siphephelo Mbhele of Creative Lead and Shabnam Singhgouden of Kuvira Consulting. SmartXchange Chief Executive Robynne Erwin said, “We work closely with our SMMEs to build their capacity and their technical knowledge to become truly professional.”
