SARS services offered at Sizakala centres

South African Revenue Service (SARS) official Thandeka
Mkhize assisted Thokozani Gumbi at the uMlazi Mega City
Sizakala Centre as part of a programme where the public
are assisted with tax related queries at selected centres.

A PARTNERSHIP between eThekwini Municipality and the South African Revenue Service (SARS) will see the public receive assistance with tax-related queries as the SARS mobile unit visits selected Sizakala Customer Service Centres.

SARS officials will assist taxpayers with revenue services such as income tax registrations, filing of tax returns via eFiling, MobiApp and other general tax related queries. This programme is currently being piloted at four Sizakala Centres in eThekwini which include uMlazi Mega City, Umnini Tusong, Hammersdale and Verulam.

SARS officials were at the uMlazi Mega City Sizakala Centre and the Umnini Tusong Centre on 8 July. They will visit the other two centres later this month. The SARS officials that were deployed to the uMlazi Mega City Sizakala Centre said the most common queries they received were from small, medium and microsized enterprises relating to tax clearances, requests for tax registrations and filing of tax returns.

SARS will be at the service centres between 9am and 2pm on specific days with the public encouraged to make use of this free service. The four Sizakala Centres can be contacted to confirm SARS visit dates at the centres. Head of the Sizakala Customer Service Unit Mavuso Tshabalala welcomed the initiative saying it is line with the Municipal strategy of increasing services rendered at Sizakala Centres.
