Positioning Durban as a prime investment destination
EThekwini Municipality’s Invest Durban Unit has intensified their efforts to improve Durban’s position as one of Africa’s prime business destinations to grow investor confidence.

The Unit has expanded their investment marketing initiatives as part of the City’s Economic Recovery Plan. The plan aims to stimulate and facilitate investment within the City and across South Africa.

The thrust of this campaign is to improve investor confidence in the City, positioning eThekwini as a pro-active business destination with a great work-life balance. An added benefit is access to a host of identified catalytic projects across multiple sectors. This in turn leads to additional prospects regarding the expansion of formal industrial clusters and the development of value chains, from the townships to the “high streets”.

As the economy begins to reopen, Invest Durban’s goal is to robustly bring new levels of investment to Durban from across South Africa and the world. Durban's “First Stop Shop” is ideally positioned to introduce, support, and facilitate investment into the City and its surrounds.

Invest Durban collaborates closely with other City units and like-minded organisations such as the Department of Trade and Industry, Invest SA, Trade and Investment KZN, various Chambers of Commerce, the KZN Growth Coalition and several state-owned enterprises such as Dube TradePort, Transnet, and others.

Speaking on the recent marketing initiatives, eThekwini Mayor Councillor Mxolisi Kaunda said: “Collectively, we have a single-minded mission, which is to put Durban, KwaZulu-Natal firmly on the national and international investment agendas. We want to vigorously promote our region and the projects as premium investment destinations ripe with opportunity.”

"Durban, with its strategic coastal location, excellent climate, ample land availability, the busiest seaport in Southern Africa and an enviable lifestyle is an exceptional travel, trade, and investment destination. A destination we are taking to the rest of South Africa, Africa and the world, via this new airport marketing campaign,” added Mayor Kaunda.
