New Metro Police and firefighter recruits ready to serve
Ecstatic newly appointed Metro Police officers and
firefighters after a seminar that encouraged them to
execute their duties diligently.
ABOUT 240 young eThekwini residents received a life changing opportunity after the City permanently employed 205 Metro police officers and 35 firefighters.

The new appointees were empowered to execute their duties ethically and professionally, aligning them with the values of the City. This is after an excited bunch of recruits attended a Work Readiness Seminar hosted by the City’s Performance and Talent Management unit at Moses Mabhida Stadium on 14 June.

The recruits were inducted on the importance of performance management, work ethics and were educated on what is expected of them as Municipal employees. Metro Police recruit Terry Jacobs said he was motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. “I believe this a new chapter in my life and I intend to flourish within my field,” said Jacobs.

Acting Head of Human Resources Mary-Anne Cobarg said the recruitment process was daunting as more than 90 000 applications were received.
