Electrification of houses in ward 98 welcomed
About 400 families from ward 98 are ecstatic as their
homes are in the process of getting electricity
connections.

ABOUT 400 families in ward 98 are expected to get electricity connection in a bid to fast-track the delivery of essential services. Ward 98 Councillor Bheki Thabethe said the project will benefit families from Nkwali, Mathulini, Mgababa, Hlanzeni and Mgobhozini.

The project started in early June and is expected to be completed in July. “The aim of the project is to ensure that people get basic services. Things like electricity and water are a necessity. That is why we are working hard to make sure that we soon realise that goal,” said Councillor Thabethe. He added that the project would also save lives, as many people lost their lives through illegal connections.

Sifiso Ngcobo a resident of Magcino village at Umgababa said he was very happy to get his home electrified.“This is a rural area and it makes me proud to be a resident of ward 98.” “We reside near the sea so we have a lot of people who have come to reside here and build their homes. With the installation of electricity, we are now hopeful that it will not only help light our homes but also create business opportunities for locals,” said Ngcobo.
