City focuses on entrepreneurial development and innovation
IN ORDER to grow the City’s economy by providing local entrepreneurs with valuable business information that will help them advance their business, eThekwini Municipality hosted a Supplier Development Workshop.

The workshop, held at Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC) on 16 November, was in conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) which is celebrated worldwide from 13 to 17 November.  The Municipality’s Business Development Manager Nonku Mthembu said the GEW aims to expose people to the benefits of entrepreneurship, hence Municipal entities such as the ICC and Moses Mabhida Stadium were invited to present about untapped opportunities within their organisations.

Ritesh Ramkissoon from ICC gave attendees an overview of what the centre does and listed a number of opportunities that could be exploited. Ramkissoon explained the requirements that business should meet in order for them to access opportunities such as in maintenance as the centre is running short of plumbers and painters. “We end up using the same service providers because people are not registered on our database.” He said to spread the word further about the vast opportunities and to provide training for emerging entrepreneurs they will early next year host a Supplier Information Day.
