Businesses urged to apply for free training programme
Businessowners of small and micro enterprises are encouraged to apply for a free six-week remote coaching programme. The programme, called PUM, will be facilitated by senior experts from the Netherlands and aims to stimulate growth of the participating businesses.

The PUM Netherlands programme was outlined during a Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises Information Sharing Webinar hosted by Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN) recently.

Iviwe Magaga, a Business Retention and Expansion Officer at TIKZN said the remote coaching programme is a partnership between the Netherlands government, TIKZN and the Small Enterprise Development Agency.

“The programme aims to scale up businesses that are eager to take the next step of growth. This will be done through providing extensive knowledge, unique expertise and technical support to local entrepreneurs in a lower/middle income level for them to create vibrant and competitive businesses.”

Magaga said the Netherlands senior experts not only offer online coaching but also physically visit the businesses participating in the programme, to provide technical skills.

“After the programme concludes, the senior experts will continue to support the businesses remotely to oversee the implementation of their recommendations.”

Companies interested in participating must have between 10 and 250 employees, be in business for at least three years and must not have the resources to hire a commercial consultant. Additionally, the company’s turnover must be less than R160 million annually.

The programme targets businesses in the following sectors namely agriculture and horticulture, animal production, beekeeping and fisheries, food and beverages, energy, water, waste, and environment. Businesses in chemical and synthetic materials, metal industry, tourism, and the hospitality industry can also apply.

Interested businesses can request application forms by emailing: info@pum.nl, Akash.singh@pum.nl or  iviwe@tikzn.co.za
