Business support fund to help KZN businesses
To retain jobs and ensure that businesses are fully operational, the Department of Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN) in collaboration Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa (IDC) and other strategic partners are making grant funding available to KwaZulu-Natal businesses that were impacted by the July civil unrest. Applications are open from 4 to 22 October.
The grant is intended to support the rebuilding drive by government of affected businesses and to restart the economic activities within KZN while retaining businesses and investments. The grant also aims to retain jobs affected through the unrest, create new job opportunities through business expansion and to grow KZN economically by rebuilding investor confidence.
Priority will be given to businesses within small town, township, and rural areas. One application per business will be considered within the following focus areas:
Businesses impacted negatively by the civil unrest in KwaZulu-Natal,
Businesses that require funding for working capital (including stock, equipment, furniture and fittings);
Small businesses and traders that have suffered the effects of the unrest;
Re-establishing supply-chains and routes to market;
Supporting entrepreneurship and strengthening business partnerships;
The funding (capital expenditure and operational expenditure) needs to address the recovery of businesses;
Replacement of movable assets associated with the business destroyed/damaged due to unrest;
Refurbishing the office/business infrastructure and fittings;
Replacement of lost capacity and associated stock; 
Businesses in the township and rural areas environment will be prioritised;
This fund is targeting uninsured businesses, however, the Committee will exercise its discretion to support, to a certain extent, under-insured businesses;
Replacement of critical security infrastructure i.e., fencing, security doors, etc. to ensure business continuity and
Replacement of critical IT related equipment and software to ensure business continuity. 
Businesses not eligible to apply include:  
Labour brokers
Manufacturing and selling of ammunition 
Tobacco, liquor, gambling, and sex trade
Non-profit organisations
Political organisations 
Un-rehabilitated insolvent shareholders and/or directors of applying entities
Speculative property development.

Applicants can submit their applications together with supporting documentation to the following email address: business.support@tikzn.co.za.

Applications received timeously will go through a thorough review process and will be subjected to due diligence exercises of TIKZN and economic development partners
