African Renaissance Concert promises a musical celebration

THE public is urged not to miss out on this year’s African Renaissance Concert which will feature a vibrant mix of artists. The concert is taking place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (Durban ICC) on 25 May at 6.30pm. And to celebrate the African Renaissance Festival’s 21st anniversary, concert tickets are only R150 and are available from Computicket.

Featuring on the impressive line-up are Maskandi Qadasi and Maqhinga who will be including energetic traditional Zulu dancers and will be accompanied by a full band. The concert will also see Zakes Bantwini - affectionately known as the King of Dance –perform.

The highlight performance will see Mi Casa, a soulful dance trio, up on stage treating the audience to
their live horns, vocals and keys which when combined creates deep soulful grooves. The African Renaissance Festival is an annual event taking place between 23 and 25 May at the Durban ICC. It is a platform to exchange ideas, views and programmes on pertinent issues affecting the country and continent’s development and progress.

The African Renaissance Festival is held in May each year as part of the Africa Day celebrations which
are held on 25 May. The festival usually comprises of a conference held over two days, a banquet and a concert.
