A general valuation is required to be undertaken at least once every 4 years in terms of the Municipal Property Rates Act.
The first general valuation in terms of this legislation was released in February 2008 and that Roll became effective for rating purposes on 1 July 2008.
The second General Valuation (GV2012) roll was released on 10 February 2012. Rates were raised from this new Roll from 1 July 2012.
The third General Valuation (GV2017) will come into effect from 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2021.
The Valuation Roll contains more than half a million property entries, the vast majority of which fall within the Residential Rating Category.
Supplementary Valuation Roll is now opened from 22 May 2020 to 31 July 2020
